Emmi Gilbert is a dynamic young road cyclist from Omaha, Nebraska, bringing a background in cross country running and triathlon to the sport. Though she’s been riding bikes since grade school, Emmi officially entered the competitive cycling scene in the fall of 2023 as a member of the University of Arizona Cycling Team.Since then, she has raced at three Collegiate National Championships—two in road and one in cyclocross—quickly gaining experience and making a name for herself as a hardworking and versatile rider.

Emmi’s passion for the sport is matched by her curiosity and drive off the bike, where she studies environmental science and enjoys everything from hiking to classic car restoration.In 2025, Emmi joins Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY28, where she’ll continue to develop her talent and pursue her goals at the elite level.

What inspired you to become a bike racer?

I love the competitive nature that cycling brings. I also love to ride hard and fast, both up and down hills

Who is an inspiration to you in your life, both on and off the bike?

My dad is a huge inspiration to me, both on and off the bike. I grew up wanting to be more like him everyday, he’s a prime example of what a great person is. I wouldn’t be who I am today without my dad.

The best thing about being a bike racer is?

What is your biggest accomplishment on the bike?

Placing 4th on the Onyx Stage during the Redlands Bicycle Classic

Favorite place you’ve raced your bike and why?

Vermont during Green Mountain Stage Race. The scenery was beautiful and the climbs in Vermont were very fun.

Favorite cross training or off-season activity?

I like hiking.

Best tip for a new bike racer?

Always wear a helmet

What are one of two things that you do daily that are the key to your success?

I salt everythingI ride and listen to my coach

If you could spend 10 days anywhere, where would it be?

I’d like to go to Germany and learn German

Tell us something about yourself that people may not know

I love to learn about cars, specifically late ‘60s - early 2000’s. I think they are very interesting and seeing the progression between now and 60 years ago is quite fascinating.
