Back on the boards at the Velo Sports Center! Our team kicked off the UCI Summer Slam track races in Carson, CA with a truly international lineup. Flying our colors were Marlies Mejias Garcia (CUB), Rylee McMullen (NZL), Sofia Arreola (MEX), Bethany Ingram (USA), and Ella Sabo (USA) riding with USA Cycling, along with our junior standout Emma Jimenez Palos. This block is a critical step as we keep our eyes locked on the LA 2028 Olympic Games. The fitness is there, and every race is packed with lessons as we sharpen skills and tactics. The level of competition was especially high with European Champion Anita Sternberg in the field, pushing everyone to dig deeper.
Thank you to the support of Rob Laybourn of Armed Forces Classic and Rahsaan Bahatti and Jo Kiesanowski for assisting! The team also squeezed in the legendary Manhattan Beach Grand Prix as well! Details below. More track racing on tap Wednesday and Boise Twilight on the weekend!
