Sofia and Team Score CAC Games Medals

Central American & Caribbean Games - Team Pursuit

Mexico claimed a solid silver medal in the women’s team pursuit, with Colombia taking gold and Venezuela earning bronze. The Mexican team opened the final at an ambitious pace but began to fade in the closing laps as Colombia’s strength and consistency carried them to the title. While they had hoped for gold, Mexico could be satisfied with a hard-fought silver and another strong performance at the Games.

“We had a good performance in the team pursuit, tried some new tactics and came away with the silver medal against a very strong Colombian team. Of course, we were aiming for gold, but it didn’t work out for us this time. We did everything we could on the day, I’m still very proud of our performance and proud to bring another medal home for Mexico.”

Central American & Caribbean Games - Madison

The women’s Madison came down to a very close battle between Colombia and Mexico, with the medals decided in the closing laps. A late tactical error put the Mexican pairing of Yareli Acevedo and Sofía Arreola on the back foot, allowing Colombia to take control and secure the victory. Mexico fought hard to the finish, earning a well-deserved silver medal.

"In the Madison we had a plan to start a bit on the conservative side, the plan was going well and we were up 1 point coming into the last sprint, we made a few mistakes on the last 5 laps and lost the last sprint and finished second again 1 point down. It stings a bit to not get the gold medal because we were so close but very happy to stand on the podium again!" Sofia Arreola
