Please support Marlies Mejías Journey to LA Olympics

"Asking for help isn't easy for me, but this journey is bigger than fear or pride. Competing in the Pan American and World Cups is a crucial step toward my lifelong dream: earning a place at the Olympic Games. Every training session, every sacrifice, and every setback has been driven by this dream. Your support—whether through a donation, sharing this page, or simply believing in me—means more than I can put into words. It reminds me that I'm not alone on this path. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being part of this journey and helping me keep this dream alive." With gratitude, Marlies

Marlies Mejías García is on a three-year push to win an Olympic medal at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. We are hoping to raise $25,000 and the amount you see is an automated target, once reached it moves to the next level.

As one of the most successful women on the North American circuit over the past two seasons—with 21 victories in 2025—Marlies is a two-time Olympian, a multi-time Pan American medalist, and a national champion. She lives in Salem, Virginia with her husband and 6-year-old daughter, and she is a beloved role model in Virginia’s Blue Ridge and across the Latin community.

Recently, Marlies was informed that the Cuban Cycling Federation will not be able to support her participation in any track events this year due to a lack of funding. This is especially urgent because the Olympic qualification pathway begins now: Olympic points begin at this year’s UCI Track World Championships. Without targeted support, Marlies risks missing critical opportunities to race, score points, and stay on track for LA 2028. Marlies is a salaried athlete on the UCI Continental Women’s team Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY28, which provides core support. However, when she represents Cuba at international track events, essential high-performance needs—such as track-specific equipment and testing, select training camps, incremental travel and logistics, and certain event fees—fall outside the team’s budget and the federation’s available resources.

Your gift helps responsibly bridge those competition-specific gaps so Marlies can focus on performance and continue earning crucial UCI points for herself and her nation. The 2026–2027 campaign includes Pan American Championships, 1–2 World Cups, and the UCI Track World Championships each year. Marlies works incredibly hard in her training and we need support to make sure she can qualify for the 2026 UCI Track World Championships where the Olympic points begin. Please consider joining us in supporting Marlies on her journey to the Olympics and helping her represent her community and country at the highest level.
