Marlies Mejías Sets New Cuban National Time Trial Record
Marlies Mejías of Virginia's Blue Ridge TWENTY28 delivered a record-breaking performance at the Cuban National Time Trial Championships, clinching the title and setting a new national record in the 20-kilometer event. Despite challenging windy conditions, Mejías surpassed her previous national record by over 1 minute and 30 seconds, showcasing her exceptional form and determination.
This victory adds to Mejías's impressive list of achievements, reflecting her continued dominance in time trial events. Her performance not only demonstrates her personal growth but also sets a new benchmark for Cuban women's cycling. "It means a lot to me to compete in Cuba, I love to see the progress that the other Cuban girls are making, it's slow but steady." Said marlies. "I am proud to have broken my own national record in a significant way. I am very grateful to my coach Kristin Armstrong for preparing me in the best way. I am proud to be the Cuban time trial champion.
