"The Tour de Gatineau ITT was an important stepping stone for me late this season. I have been struggling with health issues for a few months, and most recently bedridden for 2 weeks due to a viral infection. With very limited time available to train, I decided to put all my eggs in one basket, to train as quickly as I could to prepare for the ITT. With less than 2 weeks to train from bedridden to race day, I put my self coaching confidence to the test and designed a very particular plan to prepare. I had one additional challenge along the way, that is I had just finished moving to France 5 days before the race, it was a challenge in logistics, planning, and at times, brutal honesty with myself and my expectations.

The day of the time trial was like most others, calm and collected, confidence in my preparation, as far as it could go, I only wanted to do my best, and show some form as I come back from illness. I gauged my effort as honestly as I could, and was very pleased with second place, one place higher than the first time I did TdG! This effort was very important, because it revealed every area that I am currently lacking, which will help me prepare for my final race of the year in late October." - Emily Ehrlich
