Breakfast with Champions: Leadership Through Sport

Breakfast with Champions: Leadership Through Sport
Bozeman, MT

I had the privilege of joining a remarkable group of women for Breakfast with Champions, a Women in Leadership event hosted by the Bozeman Daily Chronicle and developed by my fabulous friend Sam Worthington.
Moderated by Dr. Kathryn Bertany, the panel brought together Olympic medalists, professional athletes, coaches, and executives to explore how the lessons we learn through sport—resilience, leadership, decision-making—extend far beyond competition.
Grateful to share the stage with:

Jennifer Valente – 3x Olympic Champion
Alexa Coyle – Pro Soccer Athlete, Founder of Female’s Edge, and Marketing Manager at Seattle Seahawks
Tricia Binford – Head Coach, MSU Women’s Basketball
Dr. Kathryn Bertany – CEO, Bozeman Health
Myself – Nicola Cranmer, GM of Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY28 Pro Cycling
We reflected on shared challenges—because when you remove funding from the equation, many of the hurdles faced by athletes and coaches remain the same: building trust, fostering culture, and navigating adversity. The momentum in women’s sport is undeniable right now, and conversations like these help fuel that forward movement.

I’m especially proud of the opportunities we’re cultivating through Virginia’s Blue Ridge, a region that has become a launchpad for excellence and innovation in women’s cycling and athlete development. It’s where performance meets purpose.

These moments remind me that the real wins often happen off the podium—through connection, mentorship, and vision.
Let’s keep the conversation going.
