Anna Hicks wins Scratch Race Title, Olivia silver + U23 Title

Women’s Scratch Race: Hicks doubles up, Cummins U23 champ

Twenty-four riders, 10 kilometers, zero margin for error. Anna Hicks (Boulder, Colo.; UCI CTW: Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY28) read it perfectly. Knowing a drag race to the line wasn’t the play, she piled on the pressure—attack after attack—until the field cracked. Clear and committed, she powered home for the win, her second Stars and Stripes of the day. Teammate Olivia Cummins (Fort Collins, Colo.; UCI CTW: Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY28) won the sprint for silver and pulled on the U23 Stars and Stripes, with Stephanie Lawrence (Colorado Springs, Colo.; Star Track) taking bronze.

"The scratch race win surprised me, as I am sure it did for others. I knew if I made the race hard I would better my odds of success. Racing right after the IP final win gave me an opportunity to have a curious mindset and race with the freedom of just seeing what I could do. I was able to continue sending attacks till one stuck and hold it for the last 4km to the finish." - Anna Hicks
